# Save reusable instructions as skills

> Create, test, pause, and maintain personal or team guidance for the Agent.

Skills give the Agent reusable instructions for your work, such as a brand voice, copy rule, or reporting convention. Open **Settings → Skills** to manage them. Your plan determines the personal limit displayed on the page; team management also requires the owner's role and the relevant capability.

## Create a personal skill

1. Select **My skills**, then choose **New skill**.
2. Enter a clear **Name** and a short **Description** explaining when it applies.
3. Write the actual rule in **Instructions**, then choose **Create skill**. Name and instructions are required.
4. Check that the skill appears and is enabled. Start an Agent question that exercises the rule, then inspect the resulting response.

For example, a reporting skill could say: “When comparing performance, state the account, dates, timezone, currency, and result definition. If either period has incomplete coverage, describe the gap before drawing a conclusion.” This is guidance, not permission to change an account or a guarantee that every reply is correct.

## Maintain and share guidance

Use **Edit skill → Save changes** to refine an existing skill. **Disable skill** pauses its use without deleting it; **Enable skill** restores it. Avoid competing rules that ask for incompatible tone, metrics, or action boundaries.

The **Team** tab shows shared workspace skills. Owners with team-skill access can choose **New team skill**; other members can read the shared guidance. Confirm the intended workspace before writing a rule that affects everyone.

The **System** tab is a read-only catalog of built-in guidance. It does not provide an import or editing flow for those built-ins. Custom instructions do not bypass approval previews, permissions, credit requirements, or unavailable tools.

## Check a limit or failed save

If creation is blocked, read the displayed count and plan requirement. A failed load is not proof that your saved skills disappeared; reload before recreating them. Test any substantial edit with a concrete prompt and review the answer's evidence.

**Delete skill** requires confirmation and cannot be undone. Copy any instructions you want to retain before deletion. Next: [Use the Agent](/agent/chat) or [save brand context](/creative/brand).
